7th Oakham Rainbows (All Saints)

7th Oakham Rainbows' meetings are on Tuesdays in Oakham.  The Rainbows enjoy playing games and singing songs with leaders Hannah, Janis and Lucy.

What we've been up to

In 2002 the Rainbows took part in the Leicestershire Winter Challenge and took part in lots of art and craft activities.

They also raised money for UNICEF during the group's Pumpkin Week activities by doing a sponsored silence together with apple bobbing and making apples covered in chocolate and hundreds and thousands.

For Christmas the Rainbows held an Ice Queen Party with lots of silver crowns and decorations and on 8th December they took a trip to Rutland Railway Museum to meet Santa.

What we have to look forward to

In January we are going to the RATS Pantomime.

Our Favourite Games

I Sent a Letter to my Friend
Rainbows sit in a circle and one Rainbow walks round the outside with a beanbag and they sing "I sent a letter to my friend and on the way I dropped it, one of you have picked it up and put it in your pocket" - the rainbow then keeps walking around and drops the beanbag behind one of the Rainbows sitting down and she then has to pick up the beanbag and chase the first Rainbow around the circle until they are back to the beginning and then you start again.

Chase a Rainbow
Each Rainbow is given a colour (Red, Green, Blue and Yellow) and they sit in a circle.  The leader shouts out a colour and all the Rainbows who are that colour run round the circle clockwise and try to get back to their places.  The last back is out of the game.  This continues until all the Rainbows are out - if there are only a few Rainbows left the leader can shout two colours at once or 'Chase a Rainbow' to let all the Rainbows run round.

Our Favourite Songs

Bumble Bee

(Pretend to hold a bee)
I'm bringing home my baby bumble bee
Won't my mummy be so very of me
I'm bringing home my baby bumble bee
OUCH it stung me!

(Pretend to squash the bee)
I'm squashing up my baby bumble bee
Won't my mummy be so very of me
I'm squashing up my baby bumble bee
ARGH what a mess!

(Pretend to lick your hands)
I'm licking up my baby bumble bee
Won't my mummy be so very of me
I'm licking up my baby bumble bee
ARGH I feel sick!

(Pretend to be sick)
I'm bringing up my baby bumble bee
Won't my mummy be so very of me
I'm bringing up my baby bumble bee
YUCK what a mess!

(Pretend to sweep up)
I'm sweeping up my baby bumble bee
Won't my mummy be so very of me
I'm sweeping up my baby bumble bee
Just like a Rainbow should GOOD! (thumbs up)

At the end of our meetings we sing...

Goodbye Rainbows, Goodbye Rainbows
See you soon, see you soon
Hope the weathers nice, hope the weathers nice
Do take care, do take care.
