Local Transport Plan (LTP)
About The Local Transport Plan
Local Transport Plan - CoverThe 1998 Transport White Paper ‘A New Deal for Transport: Better for Everyone’ challenged local authorities to develop and deliver sustainable integrated transport strategies. The Local Transport Plan (LTP) was published in July 2000 in order to deliver upon this challenge. At the same time the government published its 10 year plan for transport ‘Transport 2010’. The LTP forms the basis of a bid to central government for capital funds with which to achieve the objectives of the plan which integrate with both the government objectives for transport as well as the Councils strategic objectives.

Copies of the LTP can be viewed at any of the Rutland libraries or at the Council Offices. Copies will also be available on CD-Rom for a small fee or can be viewed below.

The objectives of the Rutland Local Transport Plan are:

- To maintain and improve environmental quality
- To promote sustainable forms of travel and transport and reduce car use
- To improve personal and road safety
- To care for existing assets
- To improve access to local services (improve rural transport)
- To reduce social exclusion
- To integrate transport policy within the Council
