Rutland County Museum and Visitor Centre is the perfect introduction to England’s smallest county. The museum displays tell the story of the county, and are complimented by exhibits of archaeology, history and rural life. The Visitor Information Area holds the latest information about other events and activities in the area. With a host of Family activities including our Dinosaur Activity area there's always plenty to do! Rutland County Museum - A Quality Attraction! Rutland County Museum has been assessed by VAQAS (Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme) and has maintained its status as a quality assured museum. Why not come along and see for yourself? The Museums Service is supported by The Friends of Rutland County Museum and Oakham Castle who have raised over £170,000 for the work of the Museum since 1973. The Friends have helped the Museum to buy and fit out additional premises, facilities and exhibitions and to acquire many items for the Museum’s collections. 2009 saw the Friends celebrating their 50th Birthday.
