Cottesmore

Welcome to The Cottesmore Village page

Notice from Anglian Water - As part of investigations into the sewerage catchment served by the Cottesmore Sewage Treatment Works, Anglian Water has recently placed an order with a specialist contractor – Messrs Such Salinger Peters – to undertake a Contributing Area Survey in the villages of Cottesmore, Greetham, Stretton and Clipsham.

It is currently proposed that the survey work should commence on site on Tues 31 August 2010 and may extend for up to 4 weeks. Our contractor’s staff will carry identification cards. The contractor has also been issued with a letter of introduction from Anglian Water explaining the nature and purpose of the survey work.

The survey work will ascertain points of discharge of storm water connections within our network. As such, this work will involve randomly selecting properties to undergo a visual inspection and testing of the drainage to identify the network into which the storm water drains. This may involve lifting manhole covers in public as well as private land. Some of the work may take place outside normal working hours due to access restrictions. The surveyors may seek the assistance of residents in providing a quantity of water to enable them to check flows from drains and rainwater down-pipes. There will be no requirement to enter into homes.

Anglian Water will greatly appreciate the assistance of your Parish Council in publicising the activities of our contractor on site and complying with requests for access onto private property.

Should you have any queries I can be contacted on 01604 446610. Alternatively you may wish to speak with Mr Jim Peters of Such Salinger Peters on 01929 401635.

Yours faithfully
Neil Cartwright
