Terrence Hardiman was the BBC’s ‘Demon Headmaster’ from 1997-2000 and has made many other appearances in television programmes such as ‘The Bill’, ‘Midsomer Murders’ and ‘The Royal’. He is also an accomplished stage actor and was a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. His voice will be familiar to many users of talking books as he is a frequent narrator for BBC Audio Books. The Books Roadshow takes place at the Catmose Gallery, Vale of Catmose College from 2pm – 7 pm on 25 May and is organised by Rutland Library Service, to coincide with the V&A 'Off the Page' exhibition of classic book illustrations at Catmose Gallery. There will be a variety of stalls and displays of interest to all book lovers including bookbinding, parchment craft and BBC Audio Books. Everyone is welcome to bring along their treasured books for a valuation by Edward Baines of The Rutland Bookshop, Uppingham. All events are free and refreshments will be available all afternoon. Art lovers will have the opportunity to enjoy an evening with art historian Ross King on Thursday 25 May at the Catmose Gallery, Vale of Catmose College. Ross will be talking about his latest book 'The Judgement of Paris' on French Impressionism. It is a gripping account of the 19th century art world and the rivalry between Manet and Meissonier. His other books include 'Brunelleschi’s Dome' and 'Michelangelo and the Pope’s Ceiling'. The event is organised by Rutland Library Service to coincide with the V&A ‘Off the Page’ exhibition of classic book illustrations on display at the Gallery. Entry is free but booking is advisable.
