| The footpath around the level crossing on Melton Road, Oakham, will be reopened on Wednesday after resurfacing is completed. The footpath was closed in January to enable Network Rail to undertake essential maintenance work on the footbridge supports. Rutland County Council’s Highways Department has used the opportunity to carry out highway improvements including resurfacing the path and installing dropped kerbs across Cold Overton Road to improve access for disabled residents and those with buggies. The date for Oakham footbridge’s return after essential maintenance works were carried out by Network Rail has now been confirmed. The level crossing across Melton Road will be closed to all through traffic and pedestrian traffic from 6pm on Saturday 17 May until 7pm on Sunday 18 May 2003 to allow the footbridge to be returned to its site. Diversions will be signed but drivers should allow extra time for their journeys. During the road closure, vehicular traffic will be diverted via Mill Street, Brooke Road, Welland Way, Balmoral Road, Braunston Road, West Road, Cold Overon Road and vice versa. Pedestrians should use the footbridge at Braunston Road / South Street during the closure. | ||
