LORD LIEUTENANT APPOINTED FOR RUTLAND

The Queen has appointed Dr Laurence Howard JP PhD, as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for Rutland following the retirement of Air Chief Marshal Sir Jock Kennedy in May.

Dr Howard (60) is currently Sub-dean of the Medical School, University of Leicester, but lives in Rutland. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 1979 and was made chairman of the Leicestershire Magistrates Association in 1986. He has been involved in prison visiting and other charitable work, and is a serving Deputy Lieutenant for Rutland.

Dr Howard is married to Christine and has two grown-up children.
