Colourful Anodised Aluminium Jewellery Workshop With Lindsey Mann

Saturday 24 November 2007
10am-4pm Fee: £30/£28 per person

You will be working with pre anodised aluminium sheet to produce colourful jewellery.

The aluminium sheet has undergone an electro-chemical treatment that produces an oxide layer over the surface of the metal.  Once anodised the surface of the aluminium becomes very porous and able to accept dyes.  At this point the sheet can be coloured using a variety of techniques including printing, drawing dyes and resists.  The porous layer is then sealed, permanently trapping the colours beneath the surface of the metal.

During the workshop you will learn the basics of colouring aluminium, experiment with the techniques and try out your own ideas.  You can expect to complete at least one piece of jewellery during the day.
